clutch judder

Postby chopper123 » Sun Jul 18, 2010 7:02 pm

hi been on a 100 mile round trip today
and after about 60 or so mile the clutch seems to judder when pulling off
any idea on what causes this
not to bad when cold and 20 mile outing
im thinking it could be the crank oil seal behind clutch ?

if so is this a big problem and expensive to put right
or is it a diy job

defo check the rear mount on the box first and while under there check the propshaft and if thats ok using a torch look inside the bell housing where the release arm is you might see if there is oil inside there on the clutch plate which is causing your judder..most likely to be rear crank seal is leaking a little...

if it is the dreaded seal is it best to get it changed or just use it untill it dies lol
is it a simple job once box is off

right been under it today and had a good look around
all looked ok
so i got the misses to sit in the drivers seat engine running and first gear got her to get the clutch bite then push clutch back in over and over again
the bushes on the box look solid no probs

but what i seen is the prop near the diff turns about a quarter of a turn when on clutch bite then when she pushed clutch back in it made like a loud metalic sort of a rattle

so im thinking may be the diff is on its way out ?

only does it in 1st and reverse when hot after about 50 mile
no noise from diff while driving at all
well i carnt here anything and the van is empty no ply lining or boards on the floor

any ideas please

U/J movement is excessive, could also have a broken clutch spring.

Diff oil change at 30,000miles is my schedule.
