Transit connect tddi water loss problem, strange? Help!!

Postby cossie7 » Wed Jul 21, 2010 7:49 pm

Hi all just bought a 2003 transit connect tddi as a little run about rather than using my extremely thirsty crewcab tipper.

It all started quite well had a few liitle jobs i could see that it needed doing but was a cheap trade in so i bought it, done all usual checks when i bought it oil water smoke warmed up as it should temp gauge sat where it should then drove it home with no problems

Had another look at it today after i finished work and realised the water level had dropped ?? So i topped it up took about 4 litres and ran it back up still behaved as it should didnt over heat etc but interior blowers cold some coolant pipes hot and some cold, again after running for a while it had emptyed its bottle again which i find strange as its not dropping anythin on floor and with the amount of water its using if it was the headgasket the cap and dipstick would have been coveredwith emulsified oil?? Its still not over heating or smoking at all out the exhaust, does pressurise with cap on but wouldnt say its extreme

if it was droppin water on the floor from the timing casing i would swear the water pump had collapesed but its the fact i dont know where its going? I read on some site about these getting faults like this to do with the water cooled egr but it was very brief and gave no insight so do know how to check it etc

any ideas or input would be great thanks
