Exhaust finally snapped = now together

Postby kernowgamer » Mon Jun 07, 2010 11:40 pm

Hi guys need help again  . My Exhaust is starting to split where it passes under the drive shaft theres a fabric type cover on the down pipe. It has started to show sooty deposits around the joins and on the furthest forward box. Is there any way to mend this like weld it or will exhaust bandage / gum of some description work. Cheers Guys

Well im really chuffed i actually did it myself 8) . I got a new down pipe, removed exhuast manifold bolts (thanks for advice on soaking in wd40 worked a treat) grinded 1st back box bolts off, got some new ones then put it all back together job done. Well not quite i found another hole thats getting bigger just the other side of the join. All the banging around hasnt done it it any good and now its still a bit loud  . For a temp mesure i have cut a morrisons small carrot can wrapped it round the hole and jubile clipped it and its worked a treat for now. I bet it wouldnt pass MOT like that

My old 190 sheared there whilst I was going down the A31 towards Bournemouth. I just tied it up and enjoyed the sound.
Got some looks at the lights though. Actually I shat myself too as the VOSA station is just down that way!
