90's transit front springs

Postby simon3314 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 1:00 pm

I'm changing the front springs on my 6 stud mk5 190. I'm trying to get a good deal via ebay or similar and am coming across listings for springs that state they will fit all transits 91 to 2000. But I'm also coming across other listings stating that the springs listed are for a 190 or a 150 minbus and other specific models. I'm not sure about this now?? Thinking about it, it wouldn't surprise me if a 6 stud 190 had beefier springs than a 5 stud 80 of the same year.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

Cheers in advance Simon

Yes.
There are two different "aftermarket" springs, light duty for the smaller Transit and heavy duty for the bigger Transits :!:

They don't take into account things like petrol/diesel, High
Centre of Gravity/Normal/Soft Ride etc...............

You can find out what type of spring Ford fitted to your Transit by looking at the plate in your passenger step well :D

Have you got the ebay links you are referring to :?:

Have been on ebay and I couldn't find the listing @ $19.95 that states 'all transits' any more. They may of edited/specified the listing in the past few days!

Here are some items numbers if you want to look at them. (I don't have a pound symbol on my keyboard!)

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/220638401032 $19.95 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390174781088 $32.32 ono https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370410389324 $39.95

I think all of these ads state what models they are for. I'm going to try and get a pair of 190 springs for $60 inc p and p.

Or these :?:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-Transit-Dies ... 563e52225b

The problem is, most state that the are guaranteed to fit :!:
Well of course they'll all fit :!:  but how will the vehicle suspension perform :?:

The above seller seems to have the two types listed separately and with their spring part id number and as it's for a pair, isn't a bad price imo :D

Best thing m8 ring up your motor factor give them your reg number and tell them what you want and you'll get the right parts for that motor. Just for the record i bought 1 recently and it cost me £50 just for the spring reguards BILL
