abs pump

hi guys
the old girl is flumoxed me this time.
the abs system started to play up but no lights on dash so i changed the abs pump because it spat out the fluid.
stil got same symtoms i,e pump on ,hard pedal but intermitant and not just when applying brakes.
any thoughts /ideas rgds,owen
