engine indentification

hi
does anyone know how to identify a pinto engine that is ok to run unleaded ?
acording to the haynes manual there should be a A L P or PP stamped on the haed near to number 4 plug
however mines got a mark like a 1 or an i
does this mean my engine can run on unleaded?
