 We had a L reg pick up used to run out of power esecialy on hills,
But if you stoped it and restarted it it would go okay for a while wasnt a turbo though. We had to get the pump overhauled cost £600 + vat nearly fell off my perch when got bill, I was told they break up inside or something like that.

If it was a petrol i'd say TPS,
switching off the ignition resets the ECU (at least it does on simple ECU systems like CFi fiestas and sierras.

Re: turbo problem

Postby jonnyshag » Sat Aug 13, 2005 10:02 pm

Hi, i had this problem with my tranny turbo , check the oil level and water level and check for leaks , i had a slight oil leak and it udes to get worst and worst everyday , ford dealers are usless they couldnt find any probelms they put computer to ecu, i checked the oil 1 morning found it where below the min line so i put so oil in and it ran fine , but dont fil pass max line course that will course it to happen ,

Everything runs though the ECU and if there a problem which can cause damage it sends a signal which then the van goes into a limp mode , basicley you cant over rev the engine , limp mode give you time to stop and gets you to saftey

hope this helps :)
