Am I going mad????

I've just been on ebay and there is a mk3 transit on there which the owner states it has done 198,490 miles.Now obviously the mileage is only displayed on the clock as five digits which he says reads 19849. I was always under the impression that it would go up to 99,999 and then back round to the beginning which would make his mileage 119849 in total. So which is the correct mileage?

but it doesnt matter either way transits run forever dont they
