2012 2.2fwd Euro5 Problems please help

I’ve recently bought a new van for my business and I’ve had nothing but problems with it
Yesterday it broke down with no indications that anything has been wrong apart from it running a bit under powered which I expected to be a lazy injector or something

When it broke down I got the cog with the exclamation and the battery light

Once in a safe place it started again reeves to to 3-4 thousand then died again and hasn’t started since
I’ve had a friend scan this for me and the codes recorded are

P2539-00 low pressure fuel sensor circuit

P0101-00 mass or air flow circuit range/performance

P2291-00 injector control pressure to low engine cranking

P0113-00 intake air temp sensor 1 high input

U0120-00 lost communication with starter/ generator control module


The mechanic reckons it needs a new fuel pump but after reading a few forums on this these codes don’t show that but any help would be appreciated

Rare for the Mk7 fuel pump to go, (though not impossible) more likely something else.

Have you cleared codes then tried to start it and then see what codes return?

More likely SCV and PRV giving issues, you need to check cam and crank sync.
fuel pressure desired
and fuel pressure actual
On live data while cranking.

Yeah we cleared all codes and these came back still no start

Check what I've mentioned and see what you get, then can go from there.
Have you replaced fuel filter?

I’m gonna borrow the snap on scanner this weekend to try get some live data

Yes it’s had a new filter about 4 month ago on a service
Well they said it had when I bought it

It's Euro 5 so it won't have conventional scv/prv as was on Euro 4
2 things I would be checking ,turn on ign until lit but don't try cranking then either listen for the pump in the tank or depress the shrader valve fitted in the fuel line between the filterhead and the high pressure pump to see if the low pressure pump in the tank is supplying fuel as the euro5 hp pump needs a certain amount of pressure in order to work.

Hi I’ve checked the lift pump and the schrader valve in the fuel line and I had nothing no fuel at all

I pulled diesel through with a vac hand pump and still nothing when I cranked then
Whilst vacuuming the fuel line I broke the leak off pipe at the push fit connection

Then I remembered that the old escorts used to have fuel cut off switch’s on them found the transit one and reset it

Now I have fuel pressure to the pump and the schrader valve

But it still won’t start but I don’t kno wit it is because the fuel is now pouring across the floor

Whilst trying to crank the van over the fuel cut off cut itself of a few times

Has anyone got any ideas????

does the electric pump work in the tank

can you activate it with diagnostics

low fuel pressure could also be injectors leaking back to much

i have never seen a fuel cut of in a glove box of the one i maintain

So a bit of a update I’ve managed to get the thing started and driving
I do t know what it was but after resetting this switch and wiping the error codes it started and ran


But now there’s a bit of a problem On full throttle through all the gears it runs perfect but when your in traffic and keeping the Rev range low say 1500 to 3000 rpm plodding along at 30-40 the van runs very lumpy and jerky and starts to smoke really bad and smells of unburnt diesel until again you use full throttle then it clears

So basically if I thrash it with my foot to the floor it’s fine until I have to drive at a normal speed then it starts

Looked at a euro 5 tonight and yes their is a yellow fuel cut of switch
