Go to your local motor factor, tell them you want a rotor and cap for a 1989 Granada 2.9 efi, I almost garuntee they will have it!

As for non starting, the ECU's were a pain in the ass on those early 2.9 efi engines, again one from a granada will fit, and give you a small power increase as they were mapped slightly different.

Oddly enough the dizzy was missing from my donor ambulance engine!! which was an Hreg 2.9, maybe they where diffrent to the car? anyway guess the easiest way is to look for a cheap 2.9 granada and buy it, then you've got most parts there and tested!! If you need any exhaust parts or the airbox stuff which is specific to the transit then Pm me as theres plenty left at the back of the garage and I don't need them! oh and if for any reason you get sick of the 2.9 make sure you don't loose the flywheel or adapter plate as everyone here will be wanting one to fit a 24v.

Thanks for all your advice, went to my local auto factory and after a great search they tracked down a roter arm that fits .

The roter arm is from FACET nr.3.7524rs just incase any one else is on the hunt for one
Looks a little diffirent but fits the roter and is compatable with the bosch cap

and so we continue i have replaced the roter arm and have put a new starter relay in my van tried to start ........nothing

I have spoken to a few guys who sugested to take a wire and attach one end to live and touch the other to the solinoid on starter motor. getting a faint spark but nothing else. I tried this with ignition turned on and off. can hear new relay click other than that nothing

please send me any other advice you can. thinking new starter moter may be faulty

To be clear here, is the starter is turning slowly or not at all? either way you can hear a click!

What happens when you short the starter solenoid with the ignition off... it should spin up normally
Have you checked the earth cables to the block, the only way the check them is to remove and clean, same with the power cables...
The battery isnt flat is it, well you never know

I have been trying to get it to turn but have nothing now checked the batt so now have two new ones in van and the other two on charge.

I only get a spark off the solliniod, starter does not turn at all.

I have cleaned the points on the batt, but not connection to block will do that next?

could the new starter be duff?

Alan... whats the part no?

Get your jump leads and connect one between earth on the battery and clip the other end to the starter motor and try again

I meant Alan to get the rotor arm no... if they are getting hard to get hold of its worth having a part number!

Test the starter in situ and try and start as normal

Its up the shed at the moment Matt, I'll look in the morning.

Take the spark plugs out, no compression then, the starter/engine should fly round!!!
Usually I would take the starter out and put my foot on it on the ground and test the motor with jump leads.
Was it winding over before all this started?
