help pls strange noise from exhaust

its a sort of cross between a whistle and a chirpy sort if noise.been doing it a bit, not there at startup normally takes about a minute at tickover or driving to appear. sounds ok when idle just does it when revs come on. anyone know what it could be :?: engine is a di

is the manifold bolts tight?? as this causes a whsitle when loose :?
You only need two tools in life: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the duct tape.

thanx m8 ill check em but just to clarify the noise is comin out the smoky end
is it possible that incorrect pump timing can make a noise like this?

just guessing it might have something to do with it but no i havent touched it. the engine runs ok just this noise is makin me not trust it

turbos whistle and if you have a freeflow airfilter you can get a chirup type of noise when you come off the gas. also i had a strange noise once and found it to be the pipe connecting the air box to the turbo was half off

non turbo :( and noise stops when u take the revs off

i had this on my old van (n/a) 1 of the ex manifold bolts was loose tightned it up and it stopped i cant see it being many other things :? :?

just checked all bolts tight no gaps, never easy is it :?

:) on thew original 1990 speck di they had allot of ford exhausts that used to sould like a kettle boiling going up the road ,it was great and for some reason if you had that noise the engine was spot on ! :shock: but its very unlikely you still have that type exhaust if your van is 1989-91 but if its just a wistle then i wouldnt worry to much! :wink:

could be the baffles breaking up in the rear exhaust box

thanx for all the suggestions guys im keeping me fingers crossed its the exhaust. the engine is a `94 di ive fitted in my mk2. while im at it ive noticed at speed it seems to want to steer where it fancys especially when u hit a little bump.is this due to the heavier engine being fitted ? and if so can anyone recomend a cure pls?

mate this is a conversion that i have donea few times, i even chaned the springs and it still wanderd all over the place! :( mk1 and 2 are all overthe place normally anyway! :? i have the essex v6 in my mk1 now and that will go anywere if you hit a pot hole
maybe some later di springs might help but they just never drive the same when they have been converted!
i can recal years ago i had a mk2 lwb minibus i fiited a brandnew york diesel and i had an old scouts motor wicth was a factory york diesel and the factory one drove like a swiss watch! :shock: i just couldnt get the converted one the same no matter what i done! :(
