Epic crap to Bosch manual pump

Postby Jim H » Fri Apr 28, 2006 10:57 am

I keep reading alot about manual pump conversions. I managed to get a brand new 85ps turbo engine made in 1998 that has never swung a bat from a university.they where going to use it on a test bed but did'nt have the lume or brain(s) to run it. The epic pump allthough brand new apparently has a fault,pluss being to ccmplecated and unpredictable and also i have a DI pump at the ready. so the question is- what do you need to do to make it work ie=pump adjustment,fuel pipes and which injectors?
Also can anybody tell me the real differance between a 85 and 100 ps motor?

Cheers Jim

85ps=90 hp
100ps=107 hp
To put an epic turbo engine into a non turbo van you need the gods to be on your side as it needs an ecu and all the engine sensors and all the wiring to go with it.I tried it a few years ago and am still attending the shrink.the di pump is no good to you mate as it is different setting to the turbo.If it a 100ps engine the bosch 145 or 146 pump is your baby just up the mid range fueling ,and she will go like a bat out of hell with a drop of acetone for good measure

This is where the stop solenoid wire is connected to the main loom. Its connected to the dirty green wire coming out the plug.

not epic

Postby Jim H » Sat Apr 29, 2006 10:53 am

you're missing the point. I'm not using the epic system at all. the injectors are standard to the turbo engine.

Right i see it all now,you want to know how to tell the difference between a 100ps and a 85ps,its not easy mate especially when its out of the vehicle.i usually go by the injectors colour its blue spot and brown spot for the 100ps and orange spot and pink spot for the 85ps,as far as how power is achieved i think its down to the electronic fuelling but i would have to check that out on tuesday when i can get at my paperwork in work

NO :!: NO :!: NO :!:

The questions are from Jim H

What numbers should be on the manual pump to replace the Epic pump :?:

Are the Epic injection pipes suitable :?:

Are the pulleys interchangeable between the two pumps :?:

And are the 85ps injectors suitable or must the 100PS injectors be fitted :?:

What do you have to do to the pump itself in the way of tweeking :?:

Is that about right Jim H :?:

i think he also wants to know the diferences between the 85 and 100ps engines in normal guise .... i think his thinking here is can he use a manual pump and the 100ps injectors to effectively increase the engine from an 85ps unit upto a 100ps one

other than that those questions look about right to me andy

@jim ..... i see you opted to keep the motor, cant say i blame you :P

block wise theres no difference :D so if you can get the fuelling up enough 100ps blue spot injecters should be the best bet dont know what output you will end up with :? be intresting to see :D
