Eberspacher DW5 water heater thermal cutout

hi is it possible to override the thermal cut out on the unit as mine will only run for about 10 seconds unless i keep the reset switch pressed in

It's cos it's either the thermocouple gone, not catching properly due to fuel supply problems, or no water in it.

that is not a good idea and is not solving the problem. sounds like it could be flame out sensor or lack of air intake.?? try looking hear.

it was all running fine until this morning neighbour knocked on door thought the van was on fire, there was alot of smoke coming out of the exhaust from the unit, it will know only run if i keep the safety switch pressed in, would that be teh thermocouple

i think it is just dw5

If it is smoking then its probably the flame sensor causing it to shut down, something is wrong, like psv-hgv-flt says its probably a lack of air, when was it last serviced

i did a mini service myself in september stripped it all down and cleaned it up, new plug etc, it has been working great till today

it takes more than 5sec for glowplug to fire her up. take plug out again and test out.

when i press the switch to turn on it whirrs for 5 seconds and then a there is a click on the control unit under the dash and it all stops. do you know the start up procedure so i can check each componet is it the blower or water pump first

whirrs could be water pump motor, pull pipe off and see if free. (by hand) ps what year is she and are we talking about hydronic..???

w reg swb ex bt it is the standard d5w not hydronic i have just found the start up procedure with timings so i think my fault is either
overheat ?
flame sensor short circuit
glow plug defective
burner motor defective

with all the smoke i had out of it this morning might be the burner motor, will try to check tomorrow thanks for your help
