transit duratorq engine frozen

hi guys due to the cold weather and some clown not putting antifreeze in my engine after fitting a water pump for me , the engine in my 2.0 duatorq 51 plate engine froze . i took the rad hoses off then left the van to thaw out , i then put the hoses back on next day and when thawed out , i started the van opened up the expansion bottle, and started to fill up, when the van was running i noticed it was just trying to take as much of the water as i would give it . so i then dipped the dip stick and found out the water was just running into the engine oil.. has any one ever came across this before . as im wondering what has gave way here do you you think it could be the oil cooler that has went / or the head gasket / or worse the block any help with this one guys would be great

if there's no water on the floor it sounds like the block has gone cracked somewhere inside between the jackets sometimes you get away with a core plug pushing out but i might be completely wrong as i dont know much about oil coolers and i always thought that if your head gasket was gone it put more pressure into your cooling system

bypass the oil cooler first, its where oil filter is.

My pals van just did the same due to no anti freeze. Did you work out where the water was going? I was about to remove the cyl head but better check the oil cooler first.

mates just done the same with his 2.4 rwd, blown oil cooler and popped core plugs out at top of head.

My vans in the same situation, Mk6 03 reg swb returned from holls engine was frozen solid let defrost and tried to start
but she wont fire, water has got into engine some where as is pushing oil up out of dip stick and you can
see water from the filler cap, could this be the same prob as mentioned in previous threads re the oil cooler.
shes gonna have to go to the garage but would like any info or thoughts before i go

I have just bypassed the oil cooler, when i drained the coolent i had oil draining aswell ? reconnected pipes and refilled seems to be taking to much water and is evident in dip stick, when i squezzed the hose you can hear fluid through
oil filler......
any thoughts or is it the end................

check , just remove rocker cover.

I took the oil cooler off and pressurised it with air in a bucket of water. No bubbles evident so the cooler was fine. Took the rocker cover off and when loosening an injector to remove head heard something loose. Turned out to be the internal core plugs in head which were popped back in with head still in situ. Fingers crossed that is all that was wrong. Looks promising.

I`ve removed rocker cover but cant see core plugs, is getting dark now so will look in morning.
Are they somewhere near the flat areas where the cam bolts to head?

Have got the same problem with my Transit 2,4. Have bypassed the oil cooler, but not checked the core plug yet. If that's fine; is the only possibility the block? Or is there any other possibilities?

Seank74: Did you fix the block? Lot of work/expensive?

I am also getting oil pushed up through the dipstick although no water loss and no evidence of water in the oil lost 50% of the power and now smoking a bit of dark smoke, any advice on where to start?
