The above pics are of two u shapeed brackets inthe middle of the leaf spring.
They are both loose, and the other side is solid!

Should these be tightened?

ive noticed a noise when i go up curbs and i reckon this is it?

They should be. But when you try they will probably snap. Best to get some new ones.

do not but them from a ford dealer, mine came out at a whopping 60 odd quid for bolts and nuts, when you get em off you need o know the length and the width of u bolt for your replacements as there are several sizes,
http://www.jones-springs.co.uk/home.htm this lot do em, very helpful people i have had a spring from em with no complaints

i picked up mine from a breakers yard, but £10 for a new pair .... i'll have some of that if there's anymore there !!

as for the nuts, i went to my local engineering fastenings place and got some new nuts (nylocks) for a couple of quid, these do have a tendency to either come undone or stretch making them lose, thats why i got nylocks, best to keep an eye on them for a couple of months after you have fitted them, also make sure they have seated firmly in the saddle plate on top of the springs.

Can Aztran not flood the studs with penetrating oil first then try and do them up :?:

yes :!: but the problem may be that as they are loose the most likely reason is that the shackle has stretched and therefore weakened! - best to get new ones really!! considering the consiqueses of it snapping completly!!!

NO WAY :!: They were so tight it took me all day to get them off

I think Ford modified the late ones so they could be left out of the first service
