will this diff fit??

hey am looking at a 3.54 lsd diff that may be from a mark 1 would it fit a 100d lwb mark 5 ?? and if not were would i find a limited slip diff or electronic locking rear diff?? any ideas would be great from moe

cant see a 3.54 being off a mk1 you sure its not a capri diff

No the splines on the half shafts are different and the halfshafts are a different length

its not an LSD

Thats doesnt look like an LSD, its just got enclosed sun/planet gears as used on the MK2 and MK3... dont know about the MK1
ask them for the code off the edge of the crown wheel, the last few digits will give the ratio

example
9-41 (or 41-9) divide them gives you the ratio = 4.56:1
7-36 = 5.14:1 and so on

By the way, will not fit in a MK5 axle

nice one thankyou, damn ebay sellers and yea that is the one, does anyone know where i could get one cause i live in north wales and i have to drive down some really dodgy tracks that are fine in the summer but in the winter well im sure you can imagine.

3.9 is the hardest one to find ,4.1 isnt to bad but your going to need some power to pull it along, i orderd a 4.1 in a 115 petrol and it was hopeless at towing ,3rd gear up some hills on the motorway
4,56 is not bad all round with the 5 speed box!

Ive got one and Captain Hook got the other one You will only find a the 3.9 on a front loader from a MK2 or MK3, the MK4 and 5 have the wider, rear loading diff with most economic ratio being 4.1:1.
Like Mark says, not very good for towing or loads
