Cheers for all the replies :)

Seems like it's a grey area so I'll check with my local MOT garage and give the "authorities" a bell.

Thanks for the offer Johnnyshag. I'm gonna look at a few vans this weekend, so I'll let you know if I can use them :D

I think you should pay attention to the post MrMPUK did. He copied it from the ROSPA site, and some testers are not up to date with later regs. After all I was told by our tester that lap belts were not acceptable. If you fit seats with seat belts, and they want to fail you, either appeal or take em out and get the test without them. it's unlikely you will get pulled by the police for seats, and if the worse comes to the worse you will only have to get a re test, again go without them. That's what I would do (theoretically  )

the best way is look out for a 3 seater transit minibus seat from around a 95 onwards ,these have belts already in ,and you can use the load eye from the floor near the side door for the belt holder! but good luck drilling the holes thru the floor 12 if i remember ! :D

I have a 3 set from a smiley to go in mine! (no belts yet :( )
i am making a frame using metro runners so i can slide the seats all the way forward when i need the loadspace and have no passangers- im useing metro runners cos there very flat!! :D

And i'll just need 6 bolts through the floor - but i'll weld a strengning piece on the each contact area!!
:D

£112 isn't actually a bad price. Folding seats are very expensive, and 2nd hand fixed oned go for about £50 per seat (so £150 for a triple) in my local yards.

Im fitting a second row seat to my MK2 van its actually a bucket/bench type Had to fab up a 150mm high frame for it to sit on and to also house the PS2 amps, compressor inverter and tools

Also fitting retractable belts, this is a must and needs to be engineered
the body needs to be braced where the belts/seat mount too

I will post pics soon
Yeah i know its big green and rusty so move your Porsche before i bash it with 460 cubes of fords finest cast iron

Go To Feedback & Supplier Listings. I got two 3 seaters from Ford Parts UK for £49.99 each (brand new!!). They also have some with belts fitted, but these are more expensive.

I got a double and a single seat off Ebay for £15 the lot... all with 3 point belts.... bargain or what?

When I looked at the bottom of the frames they had a clip affair made by Unwins so they could be slotted in and out... I bought the matching runner from Unwins for £40 delivered and hey presto I can have 1, 2 or 3 seats in various positions.. luvly jubbly :D :D

This is the rail

Versatility & Strength

This is the part that bolts to the frame
Camlock is unique in that it incorporates a floating lower section which is more tolerant of slight inaccuracies in rail laying and seat manufacture. The cam action, when operated, makes the whole structure rigid, locking securely in the rail so as not to rattle, and forming a very strong fixing.

It is suitable for both single seat and double seat applications.

Secured to the seat with a simple cap head screw and washer it is suitable for 280mm, 305mm, and 330mm seat leg centres.

Product Code-Camlock- LSF/CAM/M1/S

I can't believe that all you seem to be bothered about is the MOT! How about the lives of whoever is in the back, and you as well.
10 stone of child travelling at 60mph into the back of your head will hurt.
Sod the MOT, sod the cost, get belts fitted.
If you're gonna do the job, do it right.
