But back to the subject of the thread, if you were pulled and were totally legal, other than running veg oil (and NOT biodiesel), how would they tell? If it's difficult to detect veg oil, it would be impossilbe to detect biodiesel made illegally, as it's available legally, and even routinely mixed with regular diesel in France (up to 10%). I think 'dipping' is just for red diesel, not biodiesel.

Postby tranorak » Sat Oct 29, 2005 10:20 pm

A bloke locally runs his van on filtered cooking oil from his mates chip shop. People in cars following him (hopefully not the plod) start feeling Hungry due to the chip shop smells!!

Yep my mate runs a shogun on Veg Oil.... when he came over it smellls like a chip pan... I don't think any sophisticated detection equipment is required... if the copper gets a sudden urge to grab the ketchup your nicked.....

Trust me mate, secret tank's are not the answer, people have been doing it for year's with landy's and change over tap's, but they are really clued up on this and if they get a wiff that you are running another tank they will check your diesel filter and if caught you could get your vehicle impounded and a serious fine.

I have been dipped a couple of time's with my flatbed, really annoy's me, I run transits coz i love em, but to the gestapo every flatbed belong's to a pikey.

I agree with stop smoking comment, i reckon they don't really want us to stop, we make them far to much easy money.
