Yup, quite a good idea and Jack Russels work well too, but they have to have a passport for europe and they can't stay there 24 hours a day!

An easy way to stop em driving off on the pre-airbag models is to remove the steering wheel nut but leave the wheel in place. If they manage to get in and get it started the wheel will come off the first time they give it a decent twist, which should be sooner rather than later-that should shake em up a bit and hopefully get the neighbours out to see what's going on. They won't get far with no steering, and might even get nabbed in the confusion. I do this on mine after my previous one went-I'm not losing another!
Just don't forget to put the nut back on though, eh?!

isn't this a bit like cutting off your nose to spite your face? The catch with this would be the thief wouldn't notice the nut's gone, and would break in anyway, leaving you with broken glass or a forced lock to pay for, or worse still damge caused by the wheel coming off whilst driving. How bad would you feel if you forgot and hit something? Better to just take it off and keep it with you, you are not likely to forget you did that!

Fair points, but taking the wheel completely off didn't stop them breaking in and having the radio a few months ago, even though the face-off front wasn't in the van at the time. Lots of other cars have been done lately around here and no-one is ever caught. By the time an alarm has gone off at 3 in the morning and someone has woken up, the thieves have gone. Maybe if they encounter something unexpected we might be in with a chance of catching them. At least they might go for an easier target next time.
I don't know what the answer is to this one, but doing nothing will gain us nothing.

My Mk1 isn't as sophisticated as the newer ones but I found fitting this to the interior of my camper works fine,needs no wiring and transferable to other vehicles.It also has the ability to mark any would be intruder in a place they find difficult to reach but enables identification later on.
