No, you can't do that,

Fridges use the gas as a gas, taken from the top of the bottle, the engine uses it as a liquid, which it then heated before being sucked into the engine.

That's true but I'm sure you can get tanks with both outlets. Although I can't find any now so maybe I imagined it!

As far as I know it's illegal to have a tank in your car with outlets for the cooker and the engine from the same tank.

In response to the initial question, I've run several vehicles over the last 10 years with LPG and never had any problems. I currently have a Range Rover 4.6 which was converted with the basic system a few years ago. I'm just updating it to gas injection at the mo.

The later gas injection systems are much better as you don't lose any power, in fact I had a 3 lite Vauxhall Omega and a 4 litre Discovery both converted in early 2002 and stipulated that there mustn't be any reduction in power. In the end they were both tuned so that they were actually faster on LPG

I'm no longer in 'possession' of these two vehicles now but as far as I know they are still with the 'company' and still going strong. (They WILL have been well thrashed!)

You will probably find that those duel outlet tanks were for the american market as a lot of winibagos have lpg conversions running from the same tank as the cooker.
in the uk it gets complicated if you use the tank for a cooker as well as running your engine, as you can legally part fill your tank from the large orange bottles but proving how much you have used as fuel and how much is for cooking is difficult.

Hmmm, interesting.
I was wondering about that. I have an Eberspacher diesel heater in my van (if I can ever fix it!) which I would have thought I could run legally from red diesel or even heating oil. Since it doesn't have a sperate tank I can't easily do it, or can I :?:

You could run it on red diesel but you'd have to have a separate tank. If customs and excise catch you with the old cherryade in your main tank you lose your van! For the amount of fuel it uses I would just feed it from your main tank.

Yep, the risk is far bigger than the gain. Like I say it still doesn't work so not really an issueanyway. At this rate I'll probably have it running just intime for summer!

Watch out buying second hand kits, a lot of people have been taking them of gas forklifts and passing them off as car kits and they just not suitable for the job.

Also the tanks are supposed to be tested every ten years, so if you buy second hand check the tank manufacyure date.

I have fitted several kits but only the vapouriser kind not the injection set up on lap top ones.

I have seen vans with the tanks mounted on the outside, but there is a legal limit, i belive it's 300mm from the lowest point on the tank to the ground. Very few vans can do that :(

Never seen square tanks, probably because corners are weak, you can get 'doughnut' shaped tanks tho
