Fred, he says it has the EPIC system + pump, that means it's fly-by-wire, and HAS to have the ECU

Right! Didn't know that, haven't had anything to do with Tdis!

Aha! I knew it! :D
Well that makes it more difficult then
Are you saying that the very first time you got into the van and started it it just reved to max and wouldn't stop?
It kind of begs the question, why did you buy it?
Anyway, same as before. Check the fuel stop solenoid on the fuel pump. Check the accelerator pedal, make shure the variable resistor is fixed properly. If all that looks OK then is it using loads of oil? Does the oil look OK? If it's got, say, diesel in it this will cause the effect you describe.

I bought it with a turbo pipe missing (which I was told about) and it was being given away almost. I work at cars so will be able to get it sorted myself. Never worked at a tranny before so knew you guys could help.

Any other ideas greatly appreciated and I will post updates!

Tried disconnecting the wires on the bulkhead (that run to the pedal unit) and it still tries to rev its head off when started and still won't stop. Must it be the EPIC fuel pump?
