have to admit the transit is by far the worst van ive ever come across for rust issues.
mate of mine has a P reg VW transporter which is properly battered and never washed, not a spot of rust to be seen on it.

Ford wouldn't make any money selling you a new van every few years if they did that though would they.

I think the opposite, youd have more buyers for the second hand ones and more of an insentive to stick with FORD to purchase another NEW van. My van is a very good advert to FORD with its RUST issues and their looseing customers in west wales after 1 look over mine which is washed regurarly and polished. I could give you a list of names in the area of owners with the same problem. And i am purcing this matter with FORD until its resolved through my solicitor

Think its seven years on the mk7, it says in my handbook but if you have any bodywork done it has to be by ford or ford approved or they wont validate it.Typical :!: Bloody hard work keeping a van mint when u use it 4 work, ive not had a van for more than year without some plank denting or scraping it

As madmark says, there are VERY strict conditions applied to the "Anti perforation" warranties from ford :!:
As I found out :o :(

The vehicle must not have had ANY paintwork during the warranty :!:
Any work carried out during warranty must be carried out by Fords themselves (or their agents as directed by them) and this is also not good enough unless it's recorded on their data base and you keep (insist) an official record of such :!:

As I understood it, if the repaired part goes rusty, Ford will back it onto whoever carried out the repair :!: Or it's down to them :!:

The vehicle must have it's annual check for corrosion, that YOU have to pay for separately :!:

Now, having said that, there is a certain amount of discretion with the dealer to justify these sort of repairs to Ford :!:

I (unfortunately) was directed to a newly approved repairer and as such, they had absolutely no experience of Fords whatsoever, let alone handle a MK5 with corroding arches and wait for it...............a go faster "self fitted" wing vent

Their microcat (correctly) showed that the front arch of the MK5 is actually part of the whole door aperture :!:
This would have meant major, I mean MAJOR dismantling of the van on both sides at a cost of in excess of well over £2000 per side :!:  (a few years ago now)

So every excuse possible, was found to get out of a warranty repair :!:

They subsequently put in their report to FMC which makes it extremely difficult for any other dealer to even consider taking on the job under warranty :!:

ha what a bunch of whingers lol
my sprinter paint would rub off with a fingernail ( no primer as fare as i could see ), tranny paint is much better than that , just

merc has millions of $$$'s worth of claims running in the states( well ok many thousands of $$$'s ) where the sprinter is sold through dodge , because the paint blows off as you drive along the road almost

tranny drivers , dont know when they are well off
