Ive got a similar problem on mine at the moment.............if im breaking on a hill and stopped, the pedal slowly moves and the van creaps, as u put more pressure on the pedal it stops, then the van starts to move again!
Its pretty dodgy when stopping as normal too, definately more travel than there should be!

Ive been told this is the master cylinder going  Any ideas where i can get these and is it a big job?

Its not a difficult job, just time consuming.

Any decent motor factors will be able to get you a master cylinder.

You will need to bleed all the brakes after fitting of course.

Apart from 'gaining' some brake fluid (looks like the resavior is overfilled) the brakes now work as normal! Can't find anything else wrong (anybody who ever took a sickly dog to the vet wil understand), so I am getting the brake master changed anyway, I hope that will cure it.

FredTransit wrote:Right, thanks for confirming that. I would rather it be the master than the servo, as you can't get the Mk2 servo any more and I would have to do the both and go Mk3.
you can get a gasket kit for it fred seals etc

You mean the servo? I thought they were sealed.

Brakes are all OK now, so far so good. One tip though for you Mk2 owners. There are two brake masters, one has brake pipe union exactly the same and the other has brake unions of different sizes. Obviously I got the wrong one first, with different sized unions. The other (right for me) was £50 more!!! BUT if you have the time (and I didn't so went back and got the right one), there doesn't seem any reason not to change the union and a bit of brake pipe, I am sure it would be a lot less than £50, specially if you are doing it yourself.
