If both vans are diesel then the starters should be compatible but no harm in checking

just been reading other posts.

There are 2 earth wires on mine. main one goes to a terminal on the starter and the other smaller on goes into the harness.

Should the main neg battery strap go to the starter? Not the mounting bolts but the terminal on the starter!!

Should there be one that connects to engine somewhere??

Anyone live near Warwick, Warwickshire. Midlands!!!!

yes 12.7 is just enought to start engine but how long has it been on charge? it does need a decent charge like i said at least 12 hours. I bought a battery today as mine failed 10 mins before I had to collect my daughter from school - not good, i was 25 mins late by the time i got someone to pick me up! also leave the battery al least 10 mins before you get a reading as the voltage does tend to drop when you first take it off charge then it will settle at its true voltage :D

I would be tempted to put an extra earth cable to the body or chassis from battery but the problem in hand is on starting and there is no better than battery to started as long as the connections are clead (free from rust)

on the newer vehicles the battery is normally just earthed to the chassis

I removed the bung screws things from the top of the battery. will this be all safe?
