water pump seems to be ok /in all honesty the belt probably hasnt been changed since new it is a p reg/does anybody know if it is important to reset the tappets after a cambelt and push rod change /ive noticed there a bit noisier than before not that much /would it affect anything or is it just a matter of being noisey /also what are the correct gaps?

yes you should redo the tappets.

Basically no 2 rods are quite the same so when you replace them then the valves will open at the wrong time and the wrong distance.

Doing the tappets will knock the noise down a bit and should improve the power and economy a little
