Matt, I dont have a MK5 manual, I tried wiring the 2 orange/green trace wires to live, but nothing on the central part of the dash illuminations

Thinking about it the dash illumination is on an orange with black trace on my van (well the ciggy lighter certainly is)

There's nothing that shouts "Poor Workmanship" more than wrinkles in the Gaffer tape.....
