If it's a 350 single wheel and has drum brakes the hub is secured by a ring of 14mm bolts which also retains the brake backplate, the bolts are accessed by removing the halfshaft.

What's the 65mm nut behind the half shaft then? :?

Thought we were referring to the 36mm socket?

The 65mm is the rear hub nuts, on a twin axle version

And there is'nt!

Not on a MK 6 single wheel, RWD standard Ford rear axle.

If you google the parts below all will become apparent

TRANSIT REAR WHEEL BEARING KIT 2.4 RWD SINGLE WHEEL

The Dana axle, and Twin wheel configurations are different and have the 65mm Hub Nut you describe as these have Tapered Rollers Bearings that need adjustment.

The original post asked the hub nut size, which I'm assuming, rightly or wrongly was visible without the need for halfshaft removal, so as previously answered by others it's 36mm.

there is a hub nut! The hub is the bit with the bearings in that the halfshaft bolts too. A 65mm nut secures the hub in place...

Anyway this is getting a little silly  Lets just remember that assumptions are the start of most (all?) f**k ups!

Accepted, it's some time since I changed a wheel bearing on one of these and I'm clearly mixing up my axles here..................For my sanity can someone post a picture of the hub and nut in situ please.

Too much sun is my excuse!!!

Got a couple of questions that hopefully can be answered. Does the hub nut need to be renewed every time it is undone and where the hell do you find them. I can only see them in with a bearing kit.

Thread is near 15years old...most of the people you're replying to haven't been here for years.

You're better off starting a new thread with your issue....new posts in 15 year old threads tend to get lost.

Mk6 or Mk7..?? They are different.....and yes, the 65mm nuts should be replaced each time, they're a nyloc locking nut. Left side is left hand thread and right side is right hand thread. They're done up to 425nm too.

You can use them more then once if same as my mk8 on the 3 rd time when torquing up you could feel it slip got mine from Ford I don’t trust non manufacturers parts when I’ve had patent parts to do a cheaper job had more problems with manufacture parts not saying that all non manufacturers parts are bad but be careful and what you choose
