I have just been scouting about in old posts and i found this:

mike69woodford wrote:if it was me i would play with the pump on the 2.5di engine. they are a very tuned down engine. if that does flot your boat turbo it. you will not need any changes to the engine to run 7-9 psi of boost. and remeber every 14psi of boost doubles your engine bhp.

anyone disagree with the bit in bold? This looks like exactly what i needed to know.

It looks about alright :? not sure about the 14psi doubles my bhp  :?: I thought we were getting about 9 to 12 psi with a turbo (can't be sure though) That would mean my engine should have an output of about 140bhp  I don't think all these figures add up :?: :( do you :?:

Like all the electronics though 8) 8) 8)

I reckon your turbo was adjusted to give a higher performance than normal  It does upset the pump/ecu data, hence the hunting. I don't think it's the pump at all :D

Alot of people are too quick to blame the pump but if they spent a couple of minutes with how the system works they will see that it MAY not be the pump :D
And remember that if you took your van to Fords, and any seals have been disturbed, they will insist on a new unit before going any further  ! Doesn't that say anything to anybody :?:

Is this why you always drive at max revs :?:

Andy, Ford wont touch anything thats not standard anyway, one of my newer customers has a RSturbo that had braking problems, he took it into Ford and asked them to sort it out, it turned out to be only a warped disk, but he had told them money was no object......so they put new calipers/disks and pad on it  , not because they wanted to rip him off but because they couldnt match a disk to his 'four pot' calipers!!! Suppose you've guessed how he became a customer of mine eh :D

I wouldnt take anything to Ford, if its not in the book they cant/wont fix it!

Great if you have a newer vehicle, not so if you have/want anything a little unusual!

If it gets there.. My little baby out dragged one of them things coming back from Anglesey :D :D . . IT was towing a smaller caravan and had less in the back of it than my SWB MK5 Tranny. I know this coz the guy came moaning about it to me at the next meeting.

Chuffed as hell I was 8)

I can understand Ford on this completely :!: Because they need to go by their "book" for waranty and safety reasons and the fact that they can look up the "correct" part from their computer :D
It's hardley going to tell'em (how)to source a non standard brake disc  Even if it's a better option :!:
I think you have to be a bit robotic when working for Fords and other such companies.

It does now mean you'll have yet another loyal customer to add to your list :D :D :D

:( im insulted now - pmsl, only joking :D

i wanted to do one of they 'stereolithography' - i think they call it? set of dials, youy know like the kids rulers that you rock back and forth and the picture changes due to the pattern in the lens over the top, but you need REALLY high res printers to do that - something i dont have, but it would have been unique.

If ford did follow the book when working on STANDARD cars, things would be good - my mate (and also the cosworth 4x4 registrar) took his car to ford as always for its service (absolutly mint 4x4 sierra cos), and watched from the waiting room as they lifted the car onto a 2 poster, BY THE ARCHES, and if that wasnt enough, they had over filled it with oil too, caused major problems. avoid dealers like the plague i do.
