Postby woody » Tue Aug 02, 2005 6:45 pm

I HAVE 1988 TRANSIT MINIBUS IT IS AUTOMATIC WITH 2.0 LITRE PINTO ENGINE .IT TOOK US A LONG TIME TO FIND AN AUTO TRANSIT,THE PROBLEM IS BOTH MY WIFE & MY SELF ARE DISABLED, WE HAD TO HAVE A LIFT FITTED IN THE BACK OF OUR TRANSIT AS MY WIFE HAS MS & IS IN A WHEELCHAIR. I ONLY HAVE ONE ARM ,AND AS OUR TRANSIT DOES NOT HAVE POWER STEERING I FIND IT DIFFICULT WHEN PARKING AS ALOT OF PEOPLE PARK RIGHT UP BEHIND OR IN FRONT OF YOU . OUR QUESTION IS IS THERE ANYBODY OUT THERE THAT HAS THE PARTS AND THE ABILITY TO FIT POWER STEERING FOR US . WE OBVIOUSLY WILL PAY FOR PARTS AND LABOUR. IF ANYBODY CAN PLEASE HELP THANK YOU

Our garage is very good with none-standard jobs, but the problem is the mechanic is only in London (sorry not very near you, but might be worth it) every two weeks. Parts aside, you may be better getting a whole van (they can be found, on of our members has just bought such a van and is planning to put power steering on a Mk2) for the parts. it would be quite difficult to get a price for this, but one of our vans is in on thursday and I will ask for you. The other option you have is to find a competant amatuer, I am sure if anybody can help on here, they will.

Welcome by the way!

If you can get all the parts and travel up to Rotherham i'll fit em for you for free :D
As you have a pinto transit - not many pinto transits have PAS you might be better getting pump, belt and pulleys of a sierra or granada and the rack and hoses off a transit!!

also the sierra/ granada pintos with PAS have double belts on so get the altenator and crank pulley aswell!!

hope this helps :D
