How do you tell which diff ratio??

Postby DaiTheVan » Fri Aug 26, 2005 5:28 pm

Hi all, anybody know how to tell which diff ratio you have? I have a 93 swb diesel with an 'H' type Timken axle, so the diff is in its own carrier. Is the ratio stamped on these things anywhere or do you just have to use the Force? Haynes manual is bugger all help.

Gloria sic in Transit :) unlucky....

yeh, there's a whine which starts about 50 mph and builds up really narsty towards 65 - 70 - checked the oil yesterday and it took a spit but not much. It's an ex BT van so might have been hammered I spose

I thought that mine was bad and then I boarded the back of the van out like all my others have been over the years and it sound like new now!
