engine cutting out

on my 93 2.5 diesel.First happened when i picked the van up a couple of weeks ago.lost power going down a duel carrageway and the engine cut out as i came to a stop.looked under the bonnet and one of the battery terminals was loose.Fired up straight away and has been good as gold for two weeks but its just happened again tonight.Haven't had a chance to look under the bonnet yet but i'm fairly certain its not a battery terminal again cos i tightened them both up before.Any ideas what else it could be?

Could be the wire to the diesel shut off solenoid -that would cut it out!!!
still reckon it will be the battery leads though!! - with you having the problem before - mabe the clamp bolt threads are damaged and working loose!!

Went out this morning and checked the battery terminals and they are fine.

Hi mate.The engine turns over fine.No smoke as far as i'm aware.
Stop solenoid? Whats that?
Don't know much about the engine other than its a 2.5 diesel.

If its turning over then it wont be the battery teminals!

its on the diesel pump should have a wire going to it! and its on the lhs looking form the front! may be just the wire has fallen off!!

ah ha!Wire was a bit loose.hopefully will be ok now.Gave it a bit of a clean up aswell so hopefully everything will be ok now.Was a bit too dark to notice last night.Hadn't even looked at a transit engine until a couple of weeks ago but sould learn fast with everyones help on here.Cheers!!
