1996 2.5 diesel tourneo starts fine when cold but when hot struggles to start sometimes and sometimes starts fine first time. Once while driving red engine light came and van lost power, stopped turned the ignition off, after that engine started fine and red engine light went off.
Any ideas?

when you say struggles do you mean it turns over slowly or it spins over as normal and dont fire..
if it turns over slowly it could be the earth on the engine or the battery is naff or starter is no good if it spins over ok it could be the stop valve.

it turns over fine and is a turbo. I have bought a stop solanoid, but cant see where it goes, ithas a lucus pump

Since last post, Red engine light now stays on all the time and it will onlyrev to 2500 revs.
