I have just bought a diesel van do I add additive to the diesel

That's entirely up to you.

I put a bottle of diesel treatment in the tank from time to time, but you don't have to.

I recommend just using premium grade diesel such as Shells Nitropower etc.
Extra £ at the pump but payed back in better fuel consumption and cleaner fuel system. More important these days when the fuel filter is inside the tank and not a service replacement part.
If its been ran on supermarket diesel might be worth chucking a can of treatment in first for the sake of a fiver or so, just to give it a head start.

Say what..?? What model diesel has their main fuel filter in the tank..?? Not Mk7 or earlier..!!

I put a tank of shell premium in every third fill and noticed no difference in mpg we only have super markets round me you can trust and two independents not shell but both have been done for credit card and not getting a full litre fraud so most of the time it’s Morrison’s fuel
