Fuel delivery is governed by the manifold pressure on these.

1.4ish Bar will bring on the EML.

G'day fellas

Okay - my diesel engine fella has had a brief look at things and I'm booked in for 1/2-a day next week
We found that turbo boost pressure was 8psi below 2000rpm and 10psi above 2500rpm

My mate is not familiar with this aspect / part of this engine so we are seeking better advice as to 'targets'

Q- above texts suggest 17 to 25psi ... what should we aim for during part of a general engine service
Thanks again -
Phil

I don't think a stock 2.4 Mk6 will pump out 25psi, high teens maybe. Ned has fiddled with his "666" machine and mine has been remapped to 170+ps...so don't take our numbers as pure.

Yes sorry for any confusion, plus your turbo isn't a VNT or VGT

From mucking about with my 02 120/125 Jumbo, 1.4Bar bought on the EML and limp mode after 10secs or so.

Basically, from underneath (and it's a pain in knob to get to) loosen the lock nut on the wastegate pushrod and 'shorten' it til you get the boost you want. On the 125, 1 turn was approx 0.2-0.3Bar. I made a wee clamp to fit round the pushrod to make life easy.

Might not be a problem, but mine split 2 inlet manifolds running 1.3Bar - at which point it would only show 1.0Bar, which was the stock setting ......

Plastic welding the joints solved the splitting issue til the rust finally won.

If it's any guide, mine would show 0.6-0.7Bar at normal cruise, with the full 1.3 coming almost instantly if given full throttle at anything over 1500ish Rpm.

The local Diesel Engine centre has gone over the boost-pressure setting & adjustment - and the motor performance has improved markedly
Following your collective wisdom he has set it to 12,7 PSI @ 2500RPM ..... I presume that this is about 0.8 to 0.9 Bar as suggested above

I can now 'do the ton' [in km/h not mph] quite easily, although the top speeds / overtaking speeds are not quite what I had in times past with the old turbo unit. With the new unit & prior to the above tweaking, I continually had to drop a cog & rev the guts out of the motor [or so it seemed to me] just to get anywhere - now it's smooth sailing in 5th for most of the time

Thanks again fellas for your collective wisdom -
