OBD II

Would I be right in thinking that Ford have their own protocol for the OBD port under the steering wheel? I just plugged my cheap scan thingy & It does not communicate! any ideas please??

If its a mk6 then their a bit strange.
If it's a mk7 Check fuse 72 in the BCM (behind glove box fuse box).

What Airthies said...also, Mk6 are not OBD-ll compliant, so most "new" OBD readers are OBD-ll.

A modified ELM-327 and Forscan are your best bet.

Help!, I now have a Modified ELM 327& my tablet with the forscan does not see it & have noticed a fault with the instrument panel in that the LCD mileage display goes to several lines & the rev counter stops showing the revs! this is intermittent but can be made to come back on if I press the mileage re set button. also, while I'm here, how do I re set the clock in the rev counter display please?

That'll be a 125 beast same as my van so going off that and your welcome post your problem will be the injectors are shot (I know I have been there with the same issues) PF Jones is your friend for reman injectors

Is your elm WiFi, Bluetooth or hard wire?

Aye the heater plug light is also the engine management light

If you do an injector leak back test it will show which if not all injectors are faulty.

I changed all 4 of my injectors a couple of years ago due to the constant cutting out.

Drain a bit of fuel out of the fuel filter into a clean bowl or cup and see if there is any metal fillings/swarf in the fuel, if there is then the pump is shot.

The mk6 tdci is a temperamental bugger, when they work they work well but the fuel system is the vans Achilles heal.

Now got FORscan working, coming up with
P1211 P1664 P0251
So i'm going to start with replacing the fuel filter.
Is there any diffrence between the free FORscan & the paid for version?
Thanks for all your help so far.

I think the free laptop version has everything on it, the paid version is for your phone and stuff, I have the paid version on my phone and i can't do half the things I can with the laptop.

Make sure you get the tdci fuel filter as its a 2 micron filter.

I still say you have at least 1 faulty injector.

P1211 Injector Control Pressure Sensor Above / Below Desired

P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control A Malfunction

P1664 Injection Pump Control Module Faulty

Could also be the inlet metering valve on the pump.
