Hi learned types. I have an 88 2.5 di engine fitted to my Land Rover. It's tired and I could use some more power. Can anyone, please, suggest a swap, for more power and a straight swap..ie a later engine. I'm happy to stick with Transit engines. I know Rover's v8 fits etc. and many other engines, but the conversion work has already been done for the Transit lump. Thanks.
I read some time back that when the London cabs had di’s in when they needed a new engine in them they were fitting a Japanese engine in them I can’t remember but it may have been an Isuzu maybe there is a black cab forum that may help

Just put a turbo Di in, dead simple no messing with gearbox issues or engine mounts and about 100 other issues with a different engine, will have about 100 hp and just as reliable as the Di you have fitted
