What is the real ps ?

Postby shortcut » Sun Dec 30, 2018 8:06 pm

Hi, could someone help please.

Am going to look and potentially buy my next transit tomorrow morning. Just gone to sort out temporary insurance to drive it home and the van registration shows it as being 75 ps. The badge on the doors says 125 t300 ?.
The registration no. Is eo06ahv

If someone can clear this up tonight it could save me and my mate a long wasted drive tomorrow.

I have no idea about the injectors as have not seen the van yet.
I don’t have a great track record in buying transits. This year being a particular disaster lost over 2500 buying a broken Transit AWD in may.

Thanks for the heads up

Is it a FWD :?:

If so, a 125 will be a TDCi, and as advised above, your wisest course of action would be to run. If it's a 75ps, (or anything other than a 125) it will be (the more reliable) TDDi, and if it's not suffering with terminal rot, it may be worth considering.

If it's a SWB, it's possibly Southampton built, and will be rusting in all sorts of places you can't see.

If someone can do an ETIS check for you, all could be revealed, unless of course the engine has been replaced or "fiddled with"

Hi,
The van is up for £5900 ish with 54000 miles on it. Looks like a wheel chair transport layout inside.

Really not sure now !

Thanks for the replies.

5900 sovs  for a Mk6 tdci   save your money, your marriage and your soul, for that sorts of money you can get a younger, more reliable mk7.

You could probably find something 2010-2012 & low mileage, for that sort of money. A mint low mileage late Mk6 would struggle to get 2 grand in the real world.

My tramps chariot only cost 950 sovs 4 years ago :D

A Mk6 tdci with low mileage makes you wonder, has it got low mileage due to fubar injectors.

As said you can get much younger mk7's and even customs for that price.

By way of showing what you can pick up if you are lucky, I recently spotted a 57 plate MWB semi high 140 on e**y.

Noisy engine when warm, new turbo but still smokes, etc. New clutch - certainly feels like it has, pads want doing, doors don't lock BIN £1500. Sold to the short fat bald grumpy enduro rider please. It's a bit scruffy, but I'm going to load it with bikes and drive it too fast down farm tracks for the winter.

Set of pads, injector seals, and sorting some wiring has given me cheapo transport whilst the Jumbo gets kitted out properly.

Only downside is it's a bit short geared (4.27), but it surely does have some grunt.

Sorry, bit of a long winded way of saying, keep looking, good ones are out there.
