Van won’t start after changing leds rearload lights.

Postby Staggros » Wed Jan 02, 2019 10:06 pm

Evening guys,

Can anyone help out as My custom sport now doesn’t start.

I took out the rearload led single light and put in a strip led light using the original male spade connectors and 2 female connectors that I fitted to the new led.

The issue I believe is when the other end of the wires of the led touched each other and shorted out the van for a short while.

Now when I turn the ignition on I have power but absolutely nothing when I try to turn it over, like the starter motor does nothing at all.

Have I blown a fuse or scrambled the immobiliser in some way?

Thanks very much indeed taking time to read this.

The lights all work, it just won’t start after the wires touched.

The lights didn’t work for a little bit, but they then righted themselves, it just now won’t start

I have limited diagrams, but if the fuses aren't blown then unless something has happened with the bcm internally I can't see why it won't start. I would get a torch and some it through all of your fuses.

Also does the van turn over?
And so you know how many batteries it has?
Do all the auxiliary items work like the radio and speedo etc?

Hi,

No van doesn’t turn over at all. All lights work internally along with the radio and speedos, fuel gauge etc move. Although if I keep trying to start it up the battery light flashes and it goes completely dead with the symptoms of a flat battery, but it will then come Back to life. I attempted a jump start earlier but not sure if I gave it long enough, but also thinking if it works then the battery must be ok?? Is there 2 batteries? Sorry I’m a complete novice at this .

Thanks

Would help if you told us what year model you have??

You may need codes read to see if there's something obvious.

Oops, so it's a euro6 facelift 2.0L.

Only advice is check all the fuses and maybe get the AA out.

No it’s Not the facelift version, it’s the last of the old style. It’s the 170bhp sport.

I’ll check the fuses once again.

Thanks very much
