speedo sensor info for 2001 RWD tddi ?

I have a 2005 2.4l TDDI RWD which has just successfully had an engine swap with an older (2001) but much lower mileage van.

Everything good except that the speedo doesn't work now.

I understand that the setup was different in 2001 such that the sensor may not be on the gearbox. Can any of you knowledgeable guys point me in the right direction to fix this slight inconvenience?

I'm using my iPhone satnav meanwhile

Are you saying you fitted 2001 engine AND GEARBOX but don't know where to plug the speedo wires in ??
