Hi All,
Got a bit of a strange issue with our 65 reg transit custom.. The interior lights, both in the cabin and cargo compartment won't turn on I've also noticed the 12v socket in the dashboard and the media 12v socket next to the USB socket in the dash both aren't working.
I think I've identified the cause of the fault, but I'm not sure how to fix it. My understanding of this particular model of transit is that Fuse 25 (7.5Amp) in the Passenger Compartment Fuse box is used to throw Relay 2 which in turn controls both the lights and sockets. From testing I've found that with the ignition on and the van running the positive side of that fuse is only getting 3v which I don't think is enough to throw the relay, but I have no idea where F25 is fed from to further investigate this. .
I have checked EVERY FUSE in the Passenger Compartment Fuse with a continuity meter. I have swapped R4 (ignition) which is also a 70 amp 4 pin relay of the exact same model and I was able to successfully start the van so I don't think the relay is at fault. Every fuse in the Passenger Compartment Fuse board is getting 12v on the positive with the exception of F25 and F32. I have also popped all the lights out including the 4 x LED lights in the cargo compartment to ensure they're not shorting against something. All systems in side the van are working (air con, heated mirrors, heated windscreen, dashboard lights, SYNC, etc..)
I'm really stuck with this so I'm hoping someone on here will have a bright idea for something I missed
Thanks in advance guys!
