2014 2.2 Transit Trend cutting out

Postby dje494 » Mon Apr 15, 2019 2:06 pm

We recently replaced an engine in a 2014 Transit along with reconditioned injectors.

The original engine had a hole in a piston due to an injector sticking open.

It starts and runs perfectly, but randomly it cuts out the same distance from home (around 6 or 7 miles) on the occasions that it does not cut out it will run all day. On the occasions it does cut out leave a couple of hours it will restart often a boost pack is needed then it will run all day.

Things we have noticed when it brakes down - always in the morning and seems to be more common on colder mornings

Things we have done so far - cleaned the tank out, replaced the fuel filter and top of the fuel filter housing. Pressure regulator in the pump.

COsts we are getting -

p229200 Cold start fuel pressure - Error message pressure too low
p008900 Fuel pressure regulation - Error message malfunction

Help been going on to long !!!

Hi did you ever solve the problem, I have a similar problem just cuts out randomly as if no diesel but I can get it going by bleeding the high pressure fuel pump in the engine bay

What's stumping everyone that looks at it is the almost specific distance it travels before breaking down and if it goes past that point it runs all day!

Hi my van has been sorted this weekend, the fault was a bad live connection in the fuse box under the bonnet, on the fuse that works the relay that works the low pressure fuel pump. Hope this solves your problem and it only cost me 80 quid

Thread is 4-1/2 years old and the person you're replying to hasn't been back on here since May 2019.

Best you start a new thread with your issue or it will get lost in this old thread.
