AWD not working, no heater, EML light on - please help!

Postby Willandkate » Fri Apr 19, 2019 11:50 am

Hi
Newbie here. I’ve recently bought a 62 plate 2.2 T330 air con AWD mk7.
Everything was working fine until.... the cog and ! Light came on a few times now the EML light (cog one gone out). EML on now for 2000 miles and van drives fine but...
The heater doesn’t work (fan fine, just no hot air) and also the AWD has stopped working.
I’m thinking the ECU is stopping the AWD working as some kind of limp mode thing? As I say, van isn’t limping at at, it pulls great.
I read on here that the heater on air con models is controlled via an air flap rather than water valve. Could the EML fault affect this?
As for the EML fault, I’ve found the fuse for the vaporising glow plug was blown. I replaced it and it’s blown again so guess wiring fault or glow plug itself. Any ideas? Also, anyone know exactly where fuse 84 for theDPF is? Book says it’s inline near engine fuse box but I can’t find it...
Van is parked at Malaga airport as we had to fly home quickly to sort some family stuff out. We plan to go to Morocco so want the AWD more than the heater!!
Thanks in advance for any info
Cheers

You'll need to get the codes read or it will become an expensive guessing game.

Hi, thanks for that. Think you’re right. Can you recommend a decent code reader that isn’t going to cost the earth? I thought they were specialist pro kit but on eBay they’re £25??

Thanks again

Great, thanks. All sounded like double Dutch until I did some googling. Cheers

So I bought a FORScan WiFi unit. Got codes up P2463 and P26A1.
The fuse keeps blowing to the DPF glowplug. I’ve check the resistance (I’m guessing it’s in the unit where the fuel line goes to in the exhaust?) and got a reading of 1.6 ohm. I checked to resistance of the 2 sensors further down the exhaust, both 0.6 I think.
I’m guessing that the dpf injector is blocked so it’s blowing the fuse therefore no regeneration???

Thanks in advance for any help with this.
I’m also guessing that whilst the fault is there that this is telling the ECU to not allow the AWD to work. It was fine before the EML light came on....

Cheers

Hi there,

I believe I’m having similar issues. Did you find fuse 84?
