Two battery set-up

Postby FritzZeus » Tue Aug 06, 2019 1:25 pm

Hi,
Why are there two batteries in the Mk7 ? Also does anyone have a diagram of how the cables attach them both please?

Not all Mk7's have two batteries, it's mainly the RWD versions that have them fitted as standard.

The purpose is that if the aux (front) battery gets partially or fully flattened by leaving doors open, radio on all day, lights on whilst working at night etc etc, then the the rear battery will always be available to start the engine :)

Both batteries have a common earth lead. The 2 red power wires are 1 to each battery.

Not quite as simple as that, the rear battery is on a switched relay that disconnects when the ignition is off.

Yes it is. Red leads to positive. Black lead to negative. You are saying where they come from is not answering the question.
