Suspect no oil getting to top end

Postby ijrs » Fri Aug 16, 2019 11:20 am

Can your oil pump be knackered or not doing its job properly without the oil pressure light being on? Top end sounds like has no oil on there even after new oil abs filter, and looks really clean like its had a wipe down when you take a look under the rocker cover. But theres no lights on, also there allot of back pressure when I remove the oil filler cap.. like alot.. abs spitting specs of oil out. What can cause that ? Image

Pressure under the rocker cover can be a leaking injector seal.

Brand new rocker cover, new Injector clamp bolts, 4 new copper washers/seals

Two other possible causes are worn bores and/or piston rings or a blocked crankcase breather. But my money would have been on injector copper seals. How did you tighten the injector clamp bolts?

Couldnt be anytbing thats worn, as was completely fine before the rocker cover change, fine one hour then after rocker cover change along with stretch bolts and copper seals ( as was told they were one time use ) theres back pressure and loudish ticking noise that sounds like no oil in top end. Cant find a torque wrench anywhere that goes down to 6nm so just snugged them up

Ah. You never mentioned that.

It needs to be a lot tighter than that. 6Nm is the first stage: they need another half turn after that.

If you don't have a torque wrench, you shouldn't really be doing this job.....also, if you don't know how far 1/2 a turn is....well...I give up.

Too tight.... the bolts will snap, too loose, the copper seals will eventually leak. Did you ream the copper seal seats before fitting new seals.?? If not they'll possibly cause leaking.

If it was running ok before you had the rocker cover off, it obviously must be something you have done, or not done.
