P0673 error code

Postby Ronald53 » Fri Sep 13, 2019 9:02 am

Hello,
I connected my ELM327 and ran Forscan to do a reset of the pilot injection learned parameters, as my camper van again started to suffer from mid-rev light-throttle judder when cold. I noticed it reported a P0673 error, indicating that there is something wrong with the cylinder 3 glow plug. Must have started some 1000 km ago, accoring to the Forscan read-out. No errors or warning lights on the dash, and I noticed no strange behaviour, except for the mid-rev judder, but that has been there before, and I was always able to solve that problem by resetting the pilot injection learned parameters.
I found some possible causes for the P0673 error: Here.
I am looking for suggestions for the most likely cause. Any ideas where to start looking? (MK7, FWD, 2012, 125 PS, Euro 5, 80 000 km)
Thanks,
Ronald

A poorly glow plug won't be the cause your light throttle judder, they're only there to help with starting and cold emissions etc...once the engine is warm they just go along for the ride. Many diesels don't even need them.

The glow plug itself my be shorted to ground or it's loom may be poorly.

Thnaks for the response. The judder was the reason to connect my laptop to de OBD port. Next I noted the error, I don't see this as the cause for the judder. I don't observe any strange behaviour that I can link to the faulty glow plug. Nevertheless, I like to find the cause for the error.
