The euro 5 engine all have the same turbo and injectors I think so the logic is you can go software up from 100 to 125 to 155 then remove limiters and 25+ on top with dyno etc.

But I'm not a remap person so don't quote me on it.

Interestingly, dumbing down an engine to both extremes surely must be a financial thing. Like black bumpers etc

I'd reckon the 155 is pretty close the reliable limit already.

That said, Vantuner reckoned '+25PS' on my 2.4 140 so seems about right.

Update-- been to the garage and getting the service done on Saturday. Whilst I was there hes plugged in and read some diagnostic stuff. An air sensor was reading a fault but it was an old fault. The DPF charge was reading 70% full. Apparently any fault would stop a regen of the DPF however the mechanic has said he would have expected some warning signs or for it to go into limp mode with the 70% charge. He's reset all the parameters and faults and I'm going to take it on a long run and hopefully the DPF regen will happen and clear it. Plug it back in on Saturday and see what it says. I did suggest what if its had the dpf removed. Would the software still show a reading. Anyone got any insite or previous experience with this cheers

Typically the pcm won't trigger a regen till around the 100% mark,if the pcm and ipc were at latest calibrations it would tell you what was happening regarding regens.
E.g.exhaust Filter full, drive to clean message.
Then,filter cleaning.
And again once it's completed.

Although now it's 'mapped' I spose non of that will happen, and if you had it re-flashed by Ford you'd be back at 100ps.

It's got dpf. Remap guys didn't touch the dpf. Why wouldn't it do a regen if its had a remap. Its not been to ford. Inependant garage. Last time I took a van to ford, left it all day and when I picked it up was told couldn't do any work. We don't have the correct lifts. Was booked in at the wrong service centre. No confidence in main dealers.
Went on a long drive yesterday. 60mph at 2500 revs to try and get it to do a regen. Couldn't tell if it did one. Supposed to sound like a blowtorch under the van right. Did get the mpg up. From 20 to 25 but obviously this is motorway driving so a combined or urban I'd presume it would just drop back down again. It's in the garage now. Trying a static regen. Hopefully a faulty part will be found. Replace it and all will be well. They have got some pretty funky software tech and can read all the stats. Anyone recommend the 2stroke oil trick?

If you don't have any codes or warning messages relating to soot load, why do you think it needs a regen or that the dpf is causing a problem ?
70% full is acceptable normal level without causing any issues or concern,it won't try to regen till near the 100% mark.
If it wasn't doing regens it would be above this and you'd have dtcs,if it goes above 150% due to a fault, then the eml will come on,and it will not do a dynamic regen, will have to be static.
If it still climbs higher,it will go into reduced power (3k rpm max) and you have to do a stabilisation routine before static regen.
Above 320% blocked its game over, cannot be regenned, needs a new dpf.

I've been offered a speed limiter removal at £250 which is crazy high price. However he will also do a tune for the same price I guess to 155 or 170 bhp. Which sounds much better.

What do you guys think?
