Locking issue

Postby Steve192 » Fri Dec 06, 2019 8:08 pm

Hi people, after some help with a locking issue on my 2012 mk7 swb van.

The horn keeps beeping when I lock it. It’s still locking all doors but I don’t get the hazards flash anymore on the double click deadlock.

I’ve tried cleaning all the contact points and lock mechanisms, tried slamming each door, took the rear door loom apart to check for any breaks, I’ve even tried adjusting the latch hooks on the body not the doors (ones with torx bit) nothing.

Have resulted to taking the fuse out for the horn to stop it.

Any ideas where to look?

It sounds like the CL controller thinks there is a door open.
If you can find someone local with Ford IDS it will pinpoint the issue for you, other brand diag equipment may also have the ability to view live data from the CL too and will save you a load of time long term.
I have used IDS to fault find a similar issue on a MK7.

Ok cool. I have forscan will that do it mate?

I’m going to have to buy ids as everyone seems to use that more than forscan. Is it better/easier to use? Or what is the reason why people choose that over forscan?

Problem solved!!!

The rear barn door latch was completely stuck. I’d only previously checked the actual hook mechanism not the spring load locking pin you can see from the inside.

I took the whole lock off, gave it a good clean and then regreased it and now it works. Happy days!

Glad you got it sorted , as for Forscan I have used it and found it to be a handy software.
I don't use IDS every day but being the main agent tool it does have some features that are not found in other diag systems which are very handy so I wouldn't be without it.
