Electrical problems!

Postby smithie » Mon Dec 09, 2019 2:20 pm

Hello All, I have an 09 Lwb and recently my reversing lights, temperature gauge and speedometer seem to have stopped working. Has anyone had this before and do you know what the solution is? Thanks in advance.

Look under the drivers seat, if you see 2 batteries then the front is likely knackered but get them both load tested.

After that check if it has tow bar wiring, it can get soaked and cause problems.

That's interesting - so does the power for those and the radio come from the other battery? And would that explain the reversing lights being out?

The front battery nearest the pedals parts everything and the back battery links up with the ignition.

We have problems with the front battery failing and it controls the body control module which can be power hungry and can have problems. These are free checks that more often than not rule out our remedy intermittent power problems.

Can be a whole host of problems from fuses, bulbs, switches and wiring to ground faults, connector faults etc. But we start at the basics. :D

Many thanks, I shall get that front battery tested and take it from there.

Hello all again

If it's not a stupid question, how and where do I find the tow bar electrics?

So assuming I can find it, what do I do to see if that is the problem i.e it's got wet?
