Idle issues

Postby Bckgodofhell » Wed Jan 15, 2020 12:24 pm

Hi guys. First post so pls do mock if bin asked afor. We bought a x plate transit 350. Wasnt used for 3 years.
We got it started but it wont idle it just stalls. If u keep foot on accelerator it will drive but stopping at junctions ect is a pain.
Put fresh fuel but didn't flush tank. New air filter. Haven't changed plugs yet as I'm not sure what side of the year it is.

Hope someone can point me in the right direction

Thanks

If diesel ....why would you change the plugs..? I assume you mean glow plugs..?? They only come on for starting and for a short time after depending on the ambient temp.

Does it idle OK after a few mins? If so, check leak-off lines for air leaking.

When you fire it up, does it run for a few secs then stop? If so, check Crank Position Sensor for swarf - drivers side of bellhousing to block joint at ~ 1 O'clock position.

Hi Jim
No will not idle by its self at all. Not even for a few seconds as soon as the accelerator Pedal is released it just stops. I filmed it but I can add a mp4 file

Chuggy has answered your question...it's a 90ps 2.4 TDDi.

If the glow/coil light is flashing, it has stored fault codes, you need them read or you'll be chasing your tail....and guessing can become rather expensive. The fault codes will give you half an idea of what to look for.
