speedo head

Ive just got a speedo head from a mondeo to install into my trany (rev counter upgrade) , I took the old speedo out of the trany and compeard the 2 , on the trany at the bac bottom middle theres like a curcuit board chip which slots in and out , on the mondeo there was a blank space where the chip would go , anyone have any ideas what its for or does , Ive connected it up and eveything seems to work with the chip in and with it out

Nothing the old 1 doesnt have a rev counter so i got 1 with a rev counter , its got a piece of chewing gum stick to the old 1 ,some dirty t**t doesnt no how to spit it out, if you want you can have it for nothing just pay for the p+p , the front glass you change for your no

Mine is ok accept for the fact the odometer/tripometer doesnt count anymore. speedo works fine though ?? Would replacing it fix it though? what milage is showing on it?
